Well, I was born in 1964 (you do the math), and raised
as an Army brat. That means that it is difficult to say where "home" is.
Since I spent most of my childhood in eastern Colorado, I suppose that
is as close as it gets for me. Right now, I live near Fort Worth, Texas,
in a suburb I (semi) fondly refer to as "Bubbaville." Texas does not have
the dubious honor of being the worst place I have ever lived, but I would
rather be in Scotland!
I guess you could say I am somewhat spiritual. Of course,
that would be like saying that carrots are somewhat vegetables. I have been
meditating since I was 11 (It's my dad's fault. Thanks Pa!), and talking
to trees, and critters since I was old enough to talk. (It used to be those
were the only things that would listen. That is often still the case.).
I was a devout Christian for a short time, then studied Druidism, then
Wicca (Solitary) for a while, joined a coven for a while, went back to
solitary for a while, then studied a few other belief systems. Sheesh,
I have been busy! Now though my grounding tends to be in the Pre-Christian
European belief systems, I consider myself spiritual, rather than religious.
It is evident that religion is made up.
(Don't get offended, at least not until you visit the link, or come talk
to me) Basic spirituality is the same no matter what religious
philosophy you chose to follow. I think the search is what is important
in a spiritual/religious path, and try not to get hung up on labels (even
though we live our lives by them... parent, spouse, lawyer, sheep herder,
etc.)

Let's see... I have a couple of kids, both boys (the
testosterone drips off the walls at my house), and I live with my best friend. We have four dogs, one house cat, any number (depending
on the day and who is out "tomming") of farm cats, and two horses.
I trained as a graphic artist, but not earning a living
at it at this point. I'm not sure I want to, but then I think I should
be paid for sitting around wasting time... shouldn't I? At this point,
I am enjoying the fact I do not have to work, and have all the time I could
want to pursue my creative passions. I am a writer, illustrator, quilter,
and am currently on a remodeling/redecorating kick in my house.
My interests vary, and span a large range of subjects,
keeping me confused most of the time.... You have probably already
figured that out. Let's see, I am an armchair philosopher and psychologist, and
there is that art thing going on. I like to read, and take long walks in
the woods, by the ocean or in the fog. The field of quantum mechanics seems fascinating (though I really know nothing about it). Computers are compelling, and I am considering a career in the legal profession. Honestly, I am hard pressed to find anything (non-sports related) that I am not at least
somewhat interested in. Oh wait, I thought of something that doesn't interest
me... I don't care about teaching broccoli to communicate. I think that
would be setting myself up for disappointment. |
